RESPITE
Human First’s Respite Program offers temporary relief to caregivers of individuals with a developmental disability, providing safe, nurturing supervision while caregivers run necessary errands, or if they’re sidelined by an emergency or other unexpected event. The program is designed to help reduce family stress and improve the quality of life of the entire household.
In-home respite services provide intermittent or regularly scheduled temporary non-medical care. These support services typically include:
- Assisting family members to enable a person with developmental disabilities to stay at home;
- Providing appropriate care and supervision to protect the person’s safety in the absence of family members;
- Attending to basic self-help needs and other activities that would ordinarily be performed by the family member.
Respite services are provided day or night, and on the weekend. Contact our Community Services Coordinator at 631-321-1101 for information.
